God Does not Call the Qualified, He Qualifies the Called.

God Qualifies Broken People for His Ministry: Brokenness is Not the End but the Beginning

In our human way of thinking, we often believe that God chooses only the strong, perfect, and capable to serve Him. But Scripture paints a very different picture — God delights in using the weak, the wounded, and the seemingly unqualified to accomplish His purposes. In His Kingdom, brokenness is not a disqualification; it is the very preparation ground for ministry.

Brokenness Prepares the Heart for God’s Work

Brokenness strips us of pride, self-reliance, and false strength. It humbles us to depend fully on God’s grace and power. I have personally in positions in the past where I depended on my own abilities, and it quickly came crashing down as God needed to show me that our abilities and blessings are only by His Grace, and we should never get it twisted.

The psalmist David, a man who experienced deep failures, wrote:

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” — Psalm 51:17

When we are broken, we are in the perfect position to hear God, because we no longer trust in our own wisdom. God can then shape us for His purposes.

God’s Power Works Best in Our Weakness.

When I was helpless and could no longer do it on my own, God showed His power.

Paul the Apostle knew what it meant to be weak and in need of God’s help. God told him:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

Our limitations and failures are not barriers to ministry; they are the stage for God’s glory. He uses the broken to reveal His strength, so that no one can boast except in Him.

Brokenness Births Compassion and Empathy

Those who have walked through pain can relate to others in suffering. Their scars become ministry tools.

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” — 2 Corinthians 1:4

The empathy born from brokenness allows us to minister with authenticity and understanding.

Brokenness is the Gateway to Wholeness in Christ

God never intends for us to stay shattered. He binds up the wounds of the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3) and turns their stories into testimonies of His grace.

Jesus Himself declared:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted…” — Luke 4:18

When we surrender our pain to Him, our past becomes the soil for a fruitful future.

Key Quotes to Remember

“God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.”

“Your brokenness is the canvas for God’s masterpiece.”

“Scars tell a story, not of defeat, but of survival and redemption.”

“In the Kingdom of God, weakness is the doorway to strength.”

If you feel too broken, too flawed, or too unworthy to be used by God, remember this: your brokenness is not the end of your story — it’s the beginning of your ministry. The very thing you think disqualifies you is what God will use to touch lives.

Just as clay must be shattered before it can be remade into something new, so too must we be broken so that the Potter can create a vessel fit for His service (Jeremiah 18:4).

My wife and I have gone through a marriage journey that can only be attributed to Gods Grace. He has created many second chances for us so we can be obedient, heed His call on our lives and bring all the Glory back to Him through the testimony of our lives.

God is not finished with you — in fact, He’s just getting started.
